FAQs
What is therapy? •Therapy is a place where folks can explore their life experiences, emotions, sensations, thoughts, understandings, and world view with a licensed clinical professional while working towards a client led goal. •I find that the therapy I conduct with folks tends to explore the connection between present stressors/symptoms and past trauma and/or developmental injury in a co-created safe environment. •Many different modalities, tools, and resources can be utilized to explore this connection, with the most important (in my humble opinion) being the therapeutic relationship. If we as people do not feel safe in therapy, we cannot do the necessary work to heal ourselves.
What is a free 15 minute phone consultation and why do I need one? •A therapy consultation is a vibe and needs check. This space allows the client to ask the potential therapist questions to determine if they would be an appropriate match to schedule an initial therapy session. •A consultation also allows the therapist to make an initial assessment if the therapist is able to meet the needs that the client chooses to share in the initial consultation. •A consultation appointment is NOT therapy and may lead to the therapist offering referrals instead of scheduling a session. This may be due to scheduling needs, a therapist’s scope of practice/training limitations, and or a mismatch of vibes to name a few reasons.
What states do you provide therapy in? •Virginia •Maryland •New York •District of Columbia •Florida as an out-of-state telehealth provider Why does this matter? •I cannot provide telehealth services to folks who live in a state that I am not licensed in and/or have state approval to provide telehealth services in. •You must be physically located in a state that I am licensed in and/or have state permission to practice telehealth services to receive telehealth therapy services from me.
